Today, Joe had his oral surgeon consult/evaluation, meeting with the anesthesiologist and pre-admission testing. ( that was to last 3 hours!)
we do not have any word yet as to what time all this will be starting on Monday.
While talking to Deb, oldest of the children, she decided what schedule would work out the best for her.. and we had a gameplan figured out... or so we thought.
When she contacted the Cancer care coordinatior (ccc), she kind of got mixed messages as to when she would be needed. The CCC basically told her that she would be needed "more" after the second round of surgeries. While that may be true, her gut was telling her she was going to be needed after the first round of surgeries. It may be true that the first round will be a bit "easier" on Joe, but not necessarily on Mom and Dad. They give off the impression that they completely understand what is going on, what will go on.. but unfortunately, we know differently. So she is sticking to her regular plan.
As we thought.. it is better for us to be there, and have nothing major happen, or things wrap up better than expected, then us to be scrambling later.
Just got word that as of now.. his surgery is scheduled for around noon!. kind of late...
Will check in with MOm and Dad tomorrow before I go to work... Deb has checked in and I am sure Dad is pooped.
I will pray for Joe! I hope his surgery goes well and follows the dr's after care instructions!! I know my husband didn't follow up with his dr and I feel he is in the position he is in because of his failure to follow up with the dr's and take care of himself.
