Nice Christmas chat

Called my parents earlier today, to wish them a belated Merry Christmas. I was not able to call them between them travelling to my brother's and i was working. we were actually busy at work, so I would not have had time for a casual conversation.
SO I got a cup of coffee and sat down for a chat. I have to say it was nice to hear them so "up" and relaxed! They had a super nice time at my brother's apartment... they brought everything with them, from soup to nuts... ok not that much.. but everything they thought they would need to have a nice meal, and a better chair for our mom to sit on.
They said my brother seemed more upbeat and glad to see them. He is now able to speak more with his electrolarynx and has no diet restrictions.
He said, that so far, he has only be nauseous from chemo once.. the first round.. all the others have been ok. That was good news.
WIth him being able to speak, I am sure he is now feeling more "normal".
Mom said that his big scar around his neck area is becoming harder to see.
So he is "stable" in his process and maybe even exceeding how he pictured he would be. He visited his place of employment and they are still very supportive of him and remind him that they are waiting for him to come back.
My parents both sounded like they have had some pretty normal days for them.. doctor appointments, for themselves are done... and they can do what retired people do. mom seems better and chipper as well. I can hear the stress gone from Dad's voice and he is back to doing his activities.
I have to say, it was great to hear them chatting and laughing this way on the phone... it has been a long time since a phone call has not included medical issues for anyone.
There is a Christmas gift.
